Thanks for visiting the Spadina Literary Review.

Here's a bit of background on some of the contributors to this issue:

  • Thulani Elvis Buthelezi ("Ghetto Train") is a writer and poet in Johannesburg with a particular interest in South African township life. He is currently self-publishing a non-fiction book titled The Unprepared Journey.
  • Dah ("Detective") lives in Berkeley, Calif., and is preparing to publish his fifth book of poetry. Visit Dah's website by the name of what else but dahlusion.
  • Amir Darwish ("Azad and Houda"), now a Londoner, was born in Aleppo and moved to Britain as an asylum seeker in 2003. His most recent book, From Aleppo Without Love, is available through Amazon.
  • Jhen Fry ("Into the light") is a writer and tattoo artist in Santa Cruz, Calif.
  • Sarah Gilbert ("I'm Trying to be Heard") is a social worker in Toronto.
  • Timothy Gordon ("Aspen Topiary") splits his time between Asia and the desert/mountain U.S. Southwest. His poetry collection, From Falling, was published in April by Spirit-of-the-Ram Publications.
  • Chris Ingram ("The Heights") is a former CBS News journalist and author of Hey Kemosabe! The Days (and Nights) of a Radio Idyll. Visit Chris at chrisingram.org.
  • Katrina Johnston ("A Time for Replication") tells us that "the goal of her storytelling is to share."
  • Dustin Keir ("The Eyes Out There") is a screenwriter in Vancouver.
  • Bruce McRae ("Sturm und Drang") is a musician and poet living on Salt Spring Island in B.C. Bruce's most recent book, Like As If, is available on Amazon.
  • Samih Nassar ("The Dodo Initiative") teaches English and history to international students and recently scripted a short film, A Safe Space. Be sure to see our next edition for Part 2 of "The Dodo Initiative".
  • John Peacock ("Legends of Ben") is an actor, writer, and artist based in Colorado. Join us next time for more legends of Ben.
  • Jim Read ("Mookie") lives in Parkdale area. The first part of "Mookie" appeared in our June edition. Visit Jim's site at jimread.ca.
