Here's a bit of background on some of the contributors to this issue:

• Naeem Ashraf ("Water") lives in Rawalpindi, Pakistan, where he translates Urdu short stories into English. His book Trespass: A Book of Interesting Short Stories is available via his blog naeemfictiontranslator.
• Ary Asui ("Fired — It's Really Happening") lives in Toronto where he is working on a book of poetry and a screenplay.
• Charlotte Beck ("13 Steps") is a writer living with her family near Warsaw, Ontario (not Poland).
• Renée Cohen (art for "The Whole Package") is a freelance writer and artist based in Montréal. Renée's most recent solo show was at Café Expressions in the Plateau.
• Priscilla Green ("Eternized") is a Toronto writer working on her first novel. Priscilla is a shameless extrovert who loves city life.
• Joel Robert Ferguson ("Rucksack Elegy") divides his time between Winnipeg and Montréal, where he is working on a Masters at Concordia. You can recognize Joel because he has the words book punk tattooed on his knuckles.
• Edward Lee (Cover art — "There Are Ghosts Beneath Us") is an artist, writer, poet, and a maker of soundscapes based in County Meath, Ireland. Learn more at edwardmlee.wordpress.com.
• Mario Loprete ("Self-portrait") is a painter and sculptor based in Catanzaro, Italy. This self-portrait is from Mario's "Words" series of sculptures in concrete. Mario's website is marioloprete.com.
• Elga Mannik ("The Whole Package") is the Europe-based associate editor of the Spadina Literary Review.
• D.S. Maolalai ("Alzheimer Ward") works maintenance dispatch for a bank in Dublin, Ireland. His most recent poetry collection is Sad Havoc Among the Birds.
• Abe Margel ("An Old Case in a Locker") is a former rehab and mental health worker, living in Thornhill, GTA.
• Bruce McRae ("Tragic Beauty") is a musician and poet on Salt Spring Island in B.C. Take a look at Bruce's most recent collection, Hearsay.
• Mark Mulholland ("Dino Toast") is an Irishman who happens to be writing us from Lévignac-de-Guyenne, France. Mark is author of the novel A Mad and Wonderful Thing.
• Eduard Tatomir ("A Position Abroad") studies journalism at Ryerson in Toronto.
