In the Morning

by Miriam Katz

After several orgasms
All seems trivial
Even searching for food seems superfluous
I only grow with hunger for you
I only want to shower in our warmth
In the morning
I collect the remains of the night
I piece the peace back together
I wade into all the ways things could have gone wrong
That morning

Wondering whether you had caught that plane
My bed grew lonelier by each tick of the clock
I know we will meet again soon
I know how much I am present to you
In your mind
In the morning
